If there is a need for silly, pointless, entertaining children's books, Dawn McMillan and Ross Kinnaird have found that niche. Their new book, I Need a New Butt definitely fits the bill. Their hero has discovered his butt crack, decides that it must have happened when he farted, and speculates over getting a replacement. ("Of course! The fart! That's what blew my butt apart! Split the thing clean in two. Now I wonder what to do.)He weighs the virtues of different types of butts he might get (wood, armor-plated, chrome, rocket-powered, different colors) but resigns himself to his fate. He's stuck with the butt he has, and is somewhat comforted and disturbed to discover that his dad's butt has a crack as well.I Need a New Butt reminded me of I Wish That I Had Duck Feet by Dr. Seuss. I could speculate that McMillan and Kinnaird have a lesson here about kids discovering how their bodies work, etc. But mostly it's just a silly book. This is one for dads to read to their boys. Little boys will enjoy the silly humor, but mothers who forbid their children to use the "F-word" (fart) will not appreciate it.Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the complimentary electronic review copy!

The ending was lacking. I felt like it was great and then it abruptly ended in an awkward manner. We were bummed.

creepy book...pics show full butts not just cracks here and there...one pic shows a man painting on a boy's butt, another has the boy walking as a naked Model on the red carpet with adults watching, another has the boy going into a dark adult nightclub with a bumper on his butt...I will not be reading this to my child anytime soon..too much effort to return. Creepy stuff!

I didn't have high expectations for this book and simply purchased it to see what it wasn't like. When I received it, I was incredibly amused, as were all three of my children, ages 2, 7 and 9. If you're not a prude, buy this book. You're in for a ton of giggles coming from your loved ones if you do.

Our grandkids ages 4 & 6 have terrific senses of humor. They love Amelia Bedelia for instance. Since the 4 yr old especially finds butts etc hilarious I thought they'd love this. Neither of them thought this was funny. The 4 yr old announced after page 1 that "this doesn't make sense, everyone knows there's a crack there!" There was a smile about the idea of using a bumper only after I explained the word "bum." They both thought pages were missing at the end. I did too. Neither has been interested in reading it again and I don't think I can donate it because I'm sure some will find it offensive.

It's no Wonkey Donkey, for sure. I bought this because it was recommended since I bought Wonky Donkey. It's not very funny and the ending is so abrupt it leaves you wondering if a page is missing. I'm no prude, I like a good fart joke as much as the next guy, but this book just wasn't good. I don't recommend.

I have been buying this for every child that I know.This is a hilarious book for kids and parents.If you love to laugh with your kiddos, this is the book for you.

Say what you will about the subject matter, this book made my 7-year son old actually cry for laughing at his bday party. It's been a serious fave among all our kids up to age 14, definitely a most-requested read. It's not tacky at all and puts a positive spin on a type of humor that we usually try to discourage among our 5 boys. Would be nice to have it in a hard-cover the the amount of use it gets...

Seriously funny without being too potty-humorish. My 4 yr loves this book and my husband and I have been known to crack up a few times every time we read this.

Taize worship is not something my church does on a regular basis, but on those occasions when we do have a Taize service, the book will be a valuable asset.

This is a wonderful book filled with so many great songs. It has sheet music for accompanying musician. It includes verses to some songs that you CAN NOT find in any other book currently for sale. It's printed in a large format that's easily read, even in low light. The publisher stopped production of this book and split the songs up among several "new" books. When I tried to buy this book from the publisher, they first denied it's existence, but finally said they'd sell me a book for MUCH more than what AMAZON sells it for??? If you utilize the wonderful music of the Taize' community at any time, get one of these before they're gone for good.

Would have given 5 stars, but for something I thought was new I was a little disappointed. The front cover had a small crinkle mark and the back cover had either a dirt or pencil smudge, which I thought was strange for a "new" product. However, the inside pages (which is probably what's most important) were clean and mark free. So 5 stars for the inner content, but 4 for the questionable exterior condition of the front and back covers.

Used for vocal accompaniment for choir and small ensemble; Taize church services. Very good selection of Taize songs---there are others in use that are not in the book, but this book contains the most popular ones.

Beautiful songs and ostinato refrains great for a taize prayer service, or performing as a meditational piece post-Eucharist. There are also flute parts included in the book and it is full of song choices.

I am pleased with this music collection. It arrived in excellent shape (better than I expected from the description) and on time. I have been using it to plan Taizé services for the church I serve.

This is a well put together piece of work. The binding and the pages are of great material, and the colors just seem to pop the way I believe Mark Ryden wanted them to. This is a great purchase that I was debating over for some time, and I am glad that I did eventually decided that I need to have this adorning my shelves.

I love Mark Ryden so I did like this book. Although I found a lot of his art to be more tame than I had expected. I bought another of his book's which was more what I had expected. But the Gay 90's has a pink portrait of Abraham Lincoln. You have to love that. There are so great paintings and drawings. He's the best!

Mark Ryden is a true genius and this book and the work within is just another level....

I love his work. He pushes the boundaries of politics and religion.

Mark Ryden's art is amazing and the quality of the images is beautiful. The only thing I don't understand about art or photography books is why do they always make a double or triple spread and the image gets "cut" in the middle cause is spread in 2 different pages, you end up loosing detail and it's very unconfortable to see.
